As a Professor in the design and production area of the Department of Theatre at California State University Northridge, Dan’s primary focus is lighting, although he teaches an assortment of classes within the design and production area.

The program provides undergraduate students with a broad based degree in theatre, requiring them to fulfill a base curriculum balanced between three areas, Design and Production, Performance and Directing, and Theatre History. Students with a passion for one particular area of theatre are encouraged and mentored to use their electives to give their degree a focus. Students interested in a career in lighting design are strongly encouraged to contact Dan. Because of the structure of the program, undergraduate students with a passion in design, who have met curricular requirements, are often encouraged to design. Dan is passionate about preparing students for their careers both on professional and personal fronts. not only in the classroom, but by encouraging students to shadow and assist professionals out in the world. Guiding them to build not only critical technical knowledge and artistic skills, but also networking, finance, and other life skills that empower success for a student transitioning into a professional career.
